Refuge La Montanara

Rifugio La Montanara sits at 1,575m in the Veneto foothills, accessible from the valleys below via well-marked trails through mixed woodland. The hut serves as a basecamp for day hikes across the local ridge network and access routes to higher peaks. Most approaches take 2–3 hours on foot from roadheads in the surrounding towns. The location catches afternoon sun and offers reliable water from mountain springs.

The rifugio accommodates 40–50 guests in mixed and private rooms with basic Alpine furnishings. Half-board is standard: expect simple pasta dishes and local cheeses at dinner, with bread and jam for breakfast. The hut runs a small bar and sells basic supplies. Open year-round, though winter weekends fill quickly. Toilet facilities are shared; hot showers cost extra. The hut is unguarded for roughly two weeks in late November.

Book direct by phone or email at least two weeks ahead for weekends. July and August, plus Easter and Christmas, demand 4–6 weeks' notice. The hut fills fastest during autumn (September–October) when the ridge trails are in best condition and the weather holds longest. Weekday visits in shoulder seasons (May, June, September, early October) rarely need advance planning.
