About
The hut is a simple, working mountain shelter run by PZS. It offers 25 beds in shared rooms and serves hot meals and drinks during opening hours. The kitchen provides basic facilities for self-catering if you bring your own food. Water comes from a mountain spring. Open year-round but staffing varies seasonally—phone ahead before visiting outside summer months to confirm the hut is manned. It's popular with Slovenian hikers and day-trippers from nearby towns rather than destination-focused trekkers.
Book meals 24 hours in advance if possible. Contact PZS Kamnik directly or call the hut keeper. Weekend visits fill quickly in summer, particularly June through September. The hut works well as a base for exploring the surrounding ridgelines and connecting trails through the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.
