Hut na Planini nad Vrhniko

Koča na Planini nad Vrhniko sits at 733m on the Plane plateau above Vrhnika in the Lower Carniolan region. The hut is reached via marked trails from Vrhnika (45 minutes) or from the Iški Vintgar gorge (1.5 hours). Both routes climb steadily through beech forest to the open pastureland where the hut stands. The location gives quick access to day hikes across the Plane plateau and onward to peaks in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Most visitors combine this hut with walks to Veliko Polje or as a rest point on longer traverses between Ljubljana's suburbs and higher mountain terrain.
The hut is run by PZS volunteers and offers basic accommodation for around 30 people in dormitory rooms. Evening meals and breakfasts use local ingredients when available. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on weather and snow conditions in the lowland approach. Water comes from a spring. The building itself is simple: it functions as a working mountain hut rather than a destination in its own right.
