About

Bivak v Kočni is a small unstaffed bivouac at about 1,950 m (PZS gives 1,965 m) on the south-west ridge of Kokrška Kočna, in the Grintovci group of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps. It belongs to the Iskra Kranj mountaineering society (PD Iskra Kranj) and has 8 places in a shared sleeping area. There is no warden, no food and no booking; PZS lists it as open all year. The ridge looks out over the south side of the range.

Every approach is long. The shorter one starts in the Kokra valley: at Celarjev most turn off towards the Suhadolnik farm, follow the marked path to the old Frischaufova koča (1,440 m), then take the difficult marked path through Grdi graben to the Spodnji Dolci cirque and the bivouac, about 2 hours 45 minutes from the farm. From Kamniška Bistrica the route goes via Cojzova koča on Kokrsko sedlo and Spodnji Dolci, about 5 hours 30 minutes. The difficult path from Suhadolnik towards the summit of Kokrška Kočna passes close by.

Treat it as a shelter, not a hut: carry your own food, water and sleeping bag. PD Iskra Kranj ([email protected], +386 31 882 671) looks after it.
