Bivouac v Storžiču

Bivak v Storžiču sits at 1750m on the slopes of Storžič (2272m) in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Reach it from the Tržič side via the marked trail from Dolge Njive (900m start), a 4–5 hour climb. The route gains 850m and crosses open meadows before entering forest. Most parties approach from the south via Češka koča hut (easier logistics). The bivouac marks the final push to Storžič's summit, another 30–45 minutes uphill.

This is a basic mountain shelter, not a staffed hut. It sleeps 4 and offers minimal facilities—expect no water, electricity, or prepared meals. The shelter provides emergency refuge and a stopping point for mountaineers tackling Storžič's north face or traversing the ridge. Winter access is unreliable; snow and ice make the approach technical. PZS, Planinsko društvo Tržič maintains the structure. Bring your own food, water, and a stove if cooking.

There's no booking system—first come, first served. Arrive early or plan a flexible itinerary. Bring a headtorch; sunset comes fast at this elevation, and the trail down demands good visibility.
