Gorniški Center Davo Karničar
3.6About
The center is run by the PZS and operates year-round as a working mountaineering facility. It has 20 beds split across multiple rooms, a dining room with a wood stove, and basic kitchen facilities. Meals include a hearty evening dinner and breakfast; the hut serves lunches to through-hikers on request. Water comes from a spring. There is no electricity or heating beyond the stove—bring warm layers even in summer. The atmosphere is functional rather than comfortable; expect a working hut, not a hotel.
Book direct with the hut keeper via phone. July and August weekends fill quickly; book at least 3 weeks ahead for summer. The hut is most useful as a base for 2-3 day traverses of the Kamnik Alps, particularly routes toward Turska Gora or Štajerska Divača. Winter access depends on snow conditions; contact the PZS Kamnik branch before attempting visits November to March.
