Hut na Ljubelju

Koča na Ljubelju sits at 1,370m in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, on the ridge between Ljubelj Pass and the Ljubelj Saddle. The hut serves as a waypoint on several established routes. From the village of Ljubelj, the approach takes roughly 1.5 hours on marked trails. Most hikers reach it as part of longer traverses connecting the Kamnik and Savinja valleys. The location works well for day trips from Ljubljana or as a base for ridge walking in the range.
The hut offers 20 beds in mixed dormitory rooms. Meals are available on request—order ahead if you want cooked food. The facility has basic facilities including a small kitchen and toilet. The hut operates year-round but confirm availability in winter. The keeper lives nearby and staffing can be irregular, so advance contact is essential. Water comes from a nearby spring. Mobile reception is unreliable.
Book directly by email or phone before your visit. Contact the PZS (Planinska zveza Slovenije) office if you cannot reach the hut directly—they manage access information for member huts. Summer weekends fill quickly, especially July and August. Winter visits require confirmation at least two weeks ahead. The hut is a simple, functional mountain shelter rather than a full service facility. Come prepared for basic conditions and weather changes common at this elevation.
