About
The hut operates year-round and sleeps around 30 people in mixed dormitory rooms. The PZS-affiliated hut serves hot meals and drinks daily, with a simple menu of Slovenian mountain food. The kitchen can handle special diets if you request them when booking. Facilities include basic bunk beds, heated common areas, and outhouses; there's no shower. The location makes it a good base for ridge walks along the Karavanke foothills and shorter loops back through the lower Julian Alps fringe. Winter hiking and snowshoeing are viable here, though conditions vary.
Book directly by calling ahead—the hut is staffed most weekends year-round and weekdays in summer. July weekends fill quickly; book 3–4 weeks in advance for those dates. Winter weekends are quieter. The hut is family-friendly and popular with Ljubljana-based hikers doing overnight trips, so expect a fuller hut on Saturdays than midweek.
