Blüemlisalphütte

Blüemlisalphütte sits at 2,840m on the Blüemlisalp in the Bernese Oberland. Reach it from Kandersteg via the Oschinen valley in about 4.5 hours, or from Kiental via Selden in roughly 5 hours. Both routes gain significant elevation on well-marked Alpine paths. The hut's location makes it a natural base for the Blüemlisalp cirque and approaches to surrounding peaks including Oeschinen (3,487m) and the Blümlisalp massif. Winter access is possible but avalanche risk increases substantially—approach only with mountain sense or a guide.
The SAC-managed hut has 100 beds across multiple dormitories and a few private rooms. The kitchen serves hearty dinners and breakfasts; order your meal when you book. A self-catering kitchen is available if you prefer to cook. Water is plentiful. The hut operates year-round, though services are reduced in winter. Facilities are basic but comfortable—expect shared bathrooms and cold water (there is no shower). The hut is popular with mountaineers tackling the surrounding 3,500m+ peaks.
Book directly by email or phone at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August. Weekends fill quickly year-round. The hut prefers advance payment. Confirm cancellation policies when booking—the hut applies strict terms during peak season. Winter visits require prior arrangement and familiarity with snow conditions.
