Tripolihütte

Tripolihütte sits at 1763m in the Glarus Alps, above the Klöntal valley. Reach it from Glarus town via the valley road to Klöntal village, then follow the marked trail up through forest and pasture. The walk takes 2.5 to 3 hours. You can also approach from Näfels or via the Säntis ridge if you're doing a longer traverse. The hut lies on the SAC route network, making it a solid waypoint for multi-day trips in this quieter corner of central Switzerland.
The hut manages around 40 beds across shared dorms, with kitchen facilities and a restaurant serving hearty meals. Water comes from a spring. The toilet block is basic but functional. Tripolihütte operates year-round, though it's quieter in winter and spring. It's a working mountain refuge rather than a destination in itself—most hikers pass through on routes linking the Glarus Alps. Staff know the local trails and can advise on conditions.
Book directly by phone or email. The hut fills on summer weekends, especially July and August, so aim to contact them by Thursday for a weekend arrival. Solo hikers often find beds more easily. Winter visits require advance coordination to confirm staffing. The hut sits in cattle country, so expect cow bells and pastoral views rather than dramatic peaks.
