Baita Cornetto

Baita Cornetto sits at 1523m in the Dolomites, accessed from the Val Gardena valley near Selva/Wolkenstein. The hut lies on the Seceda ridge traverse and serves as a base for exploring the surrounding limestone peaks. Most hikers reach it in 2–3 hours from Selva, following marked trails through mixed forest and alpine meadows. The location works well for day hikes toward Passo Ghedina or as a waypoint on longer ridge routes.

The hut offers around 20 beds in simple dormitory rooms. Meals focus on regional Ladin and Italian cooking—expect hearty pasta, local cheese, and wood-fired bread. Hot showers and basic heating are available. There's no WiFi, so expect a genuine disconnect. The hut operates year-round, though services may be reduced in winter depending on snow access. Half-board is standard; meals are served at fixed times in the communal dining area.

Off-season (May, June, September, October) offers quieter hiking with reliable accommodation. Winter access depends on avalanche risk and maintenance—confirm conditions before traveling.
