Baita del Lago

Baita del Lago sits at 1713m in the Lago di Sorbie basin, accessible from the Val di Genova approach. The walk in takes roughly 3 hours from Carisolo, gaining 800m through steady forest and alpine meadow. The hut stands as a simple base for accessing the peaks and passes of the southern Brenta Dolomites, including approaches to Cima Tosa and Cima d'Aver. In winter, avalanche risk closes access entirely.
The hut sleeps 8 in basic dormitory accommodation. You'll find a self-catering kitchen with gas cooker, but bring all food with you—the nearest resupply is Carisolo. Water comes from a reliable spring near the hut. There's no guardian (rifugiere) on-site, so expect to be self-sufficient. The hut opens June through September, weather permitting. Solar panels provide limited electricity. Mattresses and blankets are provided; bring a sleeping bag. Toilet facilities are basic.
Access the hut key through the Trentino mountain guide office or the Trento CAI section. Book in advance during July and August. Write or call ahead to confirm conditions, particularly in June and September when snow can linger on approach paths. This is a mountaineer's shelter, not a staffed refuge—come prepared to be entirely self-reliant once you arrive.
