Silvrettahütte

Silvrettahütte sits at 2,341m in the Silvretta massif, roughly 3 hours' walk from Partenen in the Prättigau valley. The approach follows the Silvretta reservoir path via Saalbach Alp, gaining 900m steadily through alpine meadows and scree. In winter the access becomes serious terrain; check conditions before attempting it. The hut is also reachable via longer routes from the Gaschurn side or as part of a multi-day traverse.
The SAC-managed hut sleeps 69 and operates year-round, though staffing and services vary with season. Full meals are available during the main season (May to October), and a self-catering kitchen with gas cookers serves winter visitors and those who prefer to cook. Drinking water comes directly from the mountain. Basic dormitory accommodation means you share sleeping quarters, so bring earplugs. The hut is a solid base for day walks around the Silvretta—the surrounding peaks and passes warrant at least 2–3 days.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email. July and August require advance reservation; aim for 6–8 weeks ahead. Shoulder months (June, September) fill faster than you'd expect. The hut is busiest over the summer holidays and at weekends. Winter visits should be confirmed in advance since the hut may operate on limited service or by arrangement only.
