Cabin Osola

Capanna Osola sits at 1,418m in the Val d'Osola, a side valley above Maggia in the Ticino Alps. The hut is reached from Maggia village—allow 2.5 to 3 hours on foot. The path climbs steadily through deciduous forest, gaining roughly 800m elevation. It's a straightforward hiking route, not technical. The hut works well as a base for day walks in the surrounding ridges or as an overnight stop on longer traverses through Ticino's quieter valleys.
Capanna Osola accommodates 18 people in mixed dormitory rooms. Meals are provided by the hut—dinner and breakfast are standard, packed lunches available on request. Drinking water is available. There is no self-catering kitchen, so you eat what the hut prepares. The hut is typically open from April or May through October, depending on snow and staffing. Check directly for exact opening dates, as they vary year to year. The hut is managed by SAC/CAS and follows Swiss Alpine Club standards for comfort and safety.
Book ahead during July and August, when weekends fill quickly. Outside summer months, a few days' notice is usually sufficient.
