Cabin Tamaro

Capanna Tamaro sits at 1867m on the south face of Monte Tamaro in Ticino's Lepontine Alps. The hut is reached from Rivera (accessible by cable car from Camorino in the Riviera valley) in roughly 1.5 hours hiking. Most visitors approach via the cable car rather than the full ascent from the valley floor. The hut sits on a well-marked trail network connecting toward Lema and points across the southern Swiss Alps.
The hut accommodates 60 guests in shared dorm rooms. Meals are served daily—book your dinner in advance to avoid missing the kitchen. Drinking water is available on-site. There is no self-catering kitchen, so you'll eat what the hut provides or bring your own cold supplies. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions and cable car operation. Check ahead before planning a winter visit.
