Refuge Antonietta

Rifugio Antonietta sits at 1,365m in the Ticino Alps, accessible from the Val Verzasca. The hut lies on established hiking routes connecting the valley villages to higher passes. Most hikers approach from Lavertezzo (follow trail markings up the Verzasca gorge) in roughly 2.5 hours. From the hut, you can continue upward to Lago di Vogorno or traverse to neighboring valleys. The position makes it useful as a base for day hikes rather than a mountain hut for serious alpinists.
The refuge offers basic mountain hospitality with rooms for 30–40 people. Meals focus on simple fare: pasta, polenta, and local Ticinese dishes, with vegetarian options available. The hut has running water and toilet facilities. It operates year-round, though staffing may be limited in winter months—confirm opening before visiting in November through March. Pack a sleeping bag if you prefer your own bedding, as blankets are provided but not always fresh.
Contact the hut directly by phone before visiting. Book at least 2–3 weeks ahead for weekends in July and August. Midweek visits outside summer need less notice. The hut fills with local hikers on Sundays, so aim for weekdays if you want solitude. Half-board (room and meals) is cheaper than booking accommodation and meals separately.
