About
The cabin accommodates around 30 people in simple dormitory rooms. Meals are traditional mountain fare: substantial dinners and hearty breakfasts using local products where possible. Showers and toilets are basic but functional. The hut runs from mid-June through September, though it can open earlier or stay open later depending on snow cover and demand. Water comes directly from the mountain.
Book ahead during July and August—aim for at least two weeks' notice. Contact directly by phone or email through the SAC website for current rates and opening dates. The hut lies on quieter valley circuits rather than major trans-Alpine routes, so you'll find it less crowded than higher or more famous huts. Autumn (September) offers excellent weather with fewer people. Winter use is possible but requires avalanche sense and coordination with the guardians well in advance.
