Cabin des Monts-Chevreuils

Cabane des Monts-Chevreuils sits at 2,400m in the Valais Alps, above the Val d'Anniviers south of Sierre. The standard approach from Grimentz village (1,572m) takes 3 hours on a well-marked trail through larch forest and alpine meadows. From Vissoie (1,240m) allow 4.5 hours. The hut also connects to longer traverses linking the Val d'Anniviers with surrounding valleys and higher peaks.
The hut sleeps 30 in shared dormitory rooms and serves meals year-round, though check opening dates with the keeper before booking. Hot showers are available. The hut has no WiFi or other connectivity, so plan accordingly. It operates as a simple mountain base with reliable food and shelter, not a resort. Staff speak French and English. The site sits on open pasture with views across the Valais and makes an efficient stopping point for multi-day hut traverses or day hikes into the Pointe de Vouasson (2,869m) and surrounding ridges.
Book directly by phone well ahead if planning a weekend visit between June and September. July and August weekends fill quickly. Shoulder seasons (May, June, September, October) and weekdays are easier to book on short notice. Call the day before arrival to confirm your reservation and discuss evening meal timing, as the kitchen closes at set times.
