Cabin du Col de Bostan

Cabane du Col de Bostan sits at 2,290m on the col between Mont-Blanc and the Chaîns de Mont-Blanc massif in the Valais Alps. Reach it from Le Châble via the Mauvoisin area, a 4-5 hour hike gaining 1,100m. The trail climbs steeply through alpine meadow and scree. Alternatively, approach from Loèche-les-Bains or via the Rawil Pass if combining with other huts on a longer traverse. The location puts you on a serious mountaineering crossroads: the col connects climbs on Mont-Blanc's remote approaches and access to the Chaîns massif.
The hut operates year-round and is managed by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC/CAS). It sleeps around 25 people in simple dormitory beds. Evening meals are standard hut fare—soup, pasta, cheese, bread. Breakfast is available. There is no hot shower, no WiFi, and water comes from a nearby spring. Winter access requires mountaineering skills and avalanche awareness; summer is straightforward hiking. The hut is quiet compared to busier Valais huts, which means reliable beds even in peak season but also means limited social atmosphere.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email at least 2-3 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Shoulder seasons (June, September) rarely fill. Winter ascents require advance notice to confirm staffing. The hut sits far enough from main tourist corridors that day-trippers are rare, making it reliable for actual climbing parties and ridge walkers.
