Kinhütte

Kinhütte sits at 2,584m on the Kinderley Ridge between Saas-Grund and Saas-Fee in the Valais Alps. The most direct approach starts from Saas-Grund: follow the Saasertal hiking trail steeply uphill for 2.5 hours to reach the hut. Alternative routes exist from Saas-Fee (1.5 hours), making this a natural stopover on the popular Höhenweg traverse linking these two villages. The hut works equally well as a base for day trips to nearby peaks.
The hut is small and operates seasonally from June through September. It offers basic dormitory accommodation with shared facilities and simple but hearty meals. The kitchen prepares dinners and packed lunches for hikers. Water comes from the mountain spring. Expect no showers or electricity beyond essential lighting. The warden manages bookings directly and can advise on local conditions.
Book in advance for July and August weekends, especially if you're part of a larger group. The hut fills quickly during school holidays. Shoulder seasons (June and September) are quieter. Contact the hut operator directly to confirm current opening dates and meal availability. The route is straightforward and non-technical, making this hut accessible to most hikers with reasonable fitness. Snow can block approaches until late June in some years.
