Refuge Giacomini

Refuge Giacomini sits at 1893m in the Valais region, accessed via the Val d'Anniviers. The hut serves as a base for hiking in the granite peaks around Grimentz and Saint-Luc. From Grimentz village (1570m), allow 2.5 hours to reach the hut on a well-marked trail that climbs steadily through larch forest and alpine meadow. The path is straightforward but gains 320m elevation—reasonable for acclimatization before higher routes. From the hut, you can reach Pointe de Nava (2791m) in 3 hours or traverse toward Lac de Tracuit in similar time.
The refuge accommodates 58 people in dormitory rooms with mostly 4-6 bed configurations. Hot showers are available. Meals focus on hearty mountain food—expect local Valais specialties and substantial portions for hiking days. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions and staff availability. Advance confirmation is essential outside summer months.
