Täschhütte

Täschhütte sits at 2,701m in the Täsch valley, south of Randa in Valais. Reach it from Randa village (1,418m) via a 4-5 hour hike following the valley floor and then climbing steeply through larch forest. The trail is well-marked and straightforward. Alternatively, approach from Zermatt via the Täsch Glacier for experienced alpinists only. Most hikers use the Randa route as their standard access.

The SAC-managed hut has 74 beds across multiple rooms. Meals are available, with hearty Swiss-style dinners and substantial breakfasts. There's a self-catering kitchen if you prefer to cook. Water comes from the mountain source and is reliable year-round. The hut operates from mid-June through mid-September, with variable opening dates depending on snow conditions. Staff can provide current conditions and advice for onward routes toward the Täsch Glacier or peaks like Alphubel (4,206m).

Book directly with the hut by phone or email. July and August fill quickly—aim to book 4-6 weeks ahead for these months. June and September are less crowded. Confirm your exact arrival time when booking, as the warden needs to know numbers for meal planning. The hut sits on a key transit route for mountaineers working toward higher peaks, so it's popular with experienced alpinists preparing for glacier work.
