Cabin du Ski Club de Vallorbe

Cabane du Ski Club de Vallorbe sits at 1410m in the Jura Mountains near Vallorbe, in the canton of Vaud. The hut is accessed on foot from Vallorbe village—a 1.5 to 2 hour walk through forest and meadow. The Jura setting means gentler terrain than the high Alps, but the ridgeline trails here offer genuine mountain walking without the altitude demands of higher ranges.
The hut sleeps 20 people in small dormitory rooms. Meals are available: the guardian prepares simple dinners and breakfasts if you book ahead. The building has basic heating and running water. This is a working hut for the local ski club, so it operates year-round but is quietest outside winter and summer holiday periods. The atmosphere is practical rather than grand—expect solid mountain hospitality in a modest setting.
Contact the hut directly by email or phone to book. The phone line has specific hours, so email is more reliable. Winter weekends and July fill quickly; book 8 to 10 weeks ahead for these periods. Outside peak season, you often have space with just 2 to 3 weeks' notice. Half-board (bed plus dinner and breakfast) is the standard arrangement and must be booked in advance.
