Chalet de Pré-Berger

Chalet de Pré-Berger sits at 1,080m in the Jura foothills south of Geneva, reached via the village of Presinge. From the village, allow 45 minutes on foot to reach the hut. The approach is straightforward hiking through mixed forest and pasture. The hut serves as a base for day walks across the Jura plateau—particularly the ridge trails between Salève and the higher peaks to the east. Winter access is possible but the road may be closed in heavy snow.
The SAC-managed chalet accommodates around 30 people in dormitory and smaller rooms. Meals are served to groups by prior arrangement; self-catering is possible. The hut has a kitchen, basic bathroom facilities, and heating. It opens year-round, though staffing varies seasonally. The setting is quiet and pastoral rather than high-alpine, making it suitable for families and less experienced hikers building mountain fitness.
