Le Ranch

Le Ranch sits at 2,207m in the Valais region, accessed via the Val d'Anniviers. The approach takes 3–4 hours from Grimentz, following established trails through alpine meadows and rocky terrain. The hut works as a base for traverses in the Cime de l'Est massif and approaches to peaks above 3,500m. Summer snow can linger into June on higher approaches, so check conditions before heading up.

The hut accommodates 30 people in dormitory-style rooms. Meals are available on request—phone or email ahead to arrange dinner and breakfast. Drinking water comes from a reliable spring. Toilet facilities are basic but functional. The season runs from June through September, depending on snow conditions in spring. The hut is not staffed year-round, so advance notice is essential.

Book by email at least 2 weeks ahead, longer during July and August when the hut fills quickly. Confirm meal availability when you reserve beds. The hut has no phone signal, so email is your only contact method. Expect to pay in cash on arrival—bring Swiss francs. This is a working mountain base, not a tourist facility, so come prepared for simple accommodation and self-sufficiency.
