Koča Na Treh Plotih sits at 1530m in the Karavanke range on the Slovenia–Austria border in Carinthia. Reach it from the Jezerski Dom car park in Slovenia (roughly 1 hour drive from Kranjska Gora). The hut lies 2.5 hours hiking from there via the Jezersko Sedlo pass. From the Austrian side, approach via the Veliki Vrh area—allow 3–4 hours from the Ratitovec area. The hut sits on the main ridge walk between the Julian Alps and the Karavanke, making it a logical stop on multi-day traverses.
The hut offers 40 beds in simple rooms. Meals are available daily in season, with pasta, soups and local dishes typical. The building is basic mountain shelter standard—no shower facilities, but water is available. The hut opens year-round, though weekday staffing can be light outside summer. Check ahead if visiting mid-week in shoulder season.
Book through the hut directly via phone or email. July and August weekends fill quickly; reserve 4–6 weeks ahead for those dates. Early summer (June) and September offer better availability and equally good walking conditions. The hut is jointly managed across the Slovene-Austrian border; confirm opening dates before heading out in winter or early spring.
