Draugsteinalm-Schrambachhütte
2.5About
The hut is run by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and holds around 60 beds. It serves hot meals at lunch and dinner, including hearty Alm cuisine. Water comes from a spring; toilet and shower facilities are basic but reliable. The hut operates from June through September; opening and closing dates shift with snow conditions. A small shop sells emergency supplies and maps. Electricity is limited. The atmosphere is working farm rather than resort—expect simple comfort and strong regional character.
Book directly by phone ahead of your visit, especially for weekends and July-August when the hut fills quickly. Aim to call 3-4 weeks before arrival during peak season. The hut accommodates day visitors as well as overnight guests. Arrive by early afternoon if you're walking in that day, as the last 30 minutes of trail can be steep and exposed in poor light.
