About
The DAV Sektion Gießen-Oberhessen manages 40 beds in simple dormitory accommodation. Meals follow standard Alpine hut format: hearty dinners and substantial breakfasts. Lunch packs are available on request. The hut has flush toilets but no showers—bring a lightweight towel or plan to wash in cold mountain water. There is no WiFi. The hut operates year-round but check conditions in winter; most traffic comes June through September. Staff are experienced with ridge walkers needing route advice.
Book directly by email or phone well ahead during July and August—aim for 4 to 6 weeks minimum. The hut fills quickly on weekends. Contact the hut directly for current rates and meal options. This is a working mountain hut, not a hotel; expect basic comfort and straightforward service focused on getting you fed and moving on to the next stage.
