Grußberghütte
2.5About
The OeAV-managed hut offers 40 beds across simple shared rooms. Meals consist of traditional Alpine fare: Kaiserschmarrn, Erdäpfelpuffer, and seasonal game dishes. A small shop stocks basic supplies, chocolate, and maps. Water comes from an on-site spring. The hut operates year-round but is quietest October to March when staffing is reduced. Winter access requires good snow-route navigation; check conditions before departing. Camping is not permitted on the surrounding slopes.
Book directly by email or phone from May onwards for July and August weekends. Midweek stays outside summer months rarely need advance reservation. The hut fills quickly during the Tennengebirge hiking season (June to September) and on long weekends. Arrive by mid-afternoon if you haven't reserved. Bring cash—card payment is not reliable here.
