Haßeckalm
3.6About
The hut operates year-round and manages around 40 beds in simple, clean rooms. Meals focus on hearty Austrian fare—expect schnitzel, käsespätzle, and substantial soups. The kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner; pack extra snacks if you prefer independent meals. Showers are available (small fee). The Haßeckalm sits on a working dairy farm, so expect cows on surrounding pastures and the associated sounds and smells. The location offers straightforward day hiking to nearby peaks and ridges on the Untersberg plateau, plus views northwest toward Salzburg.
Book directly by phone or email at least one week ahead for weekends, two weeks for July and August. The hut fills quickly on summer Saturdays and school holidays. October through early May see fewer visitors but check opening dates—weather can force short closures. No special alpinist training required; this is accessible terrain for fit hikers with decent boots.
