Seethalerhütte

Seethalerhütte sits at 2,740m in the Salzburg Alps, on the ridge between the Seeseeli and Seethaler valleys. Reach it from Saalbach-Hinterglemm in around 4 hours by ascending the Seebach valley, or from the Viehhofalm trailhead in 3.5 hours. The approach is steep and rocky in sections—solid hiking boots are essential. Both routes converge on the hut's exposed ridge location, which delivers unobstructed views across the Hohe Tauern.
The hut operates year-round and sleeps around 30 people in mixed and private rooms. It serves hot meals and packed lunches, with a full bar. Flush toilets are available but there are no showers—expect a basic mountain hut experience. Water comes from the surrounding peaks. The hut is run by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and serves as a base for ridge walks to the Seethal Spitze (2,822m) and onward traverses into the high-altitude network.
Book by phone directly with the hut. Summer weekends and July fill weeks in advance—call 6–8 weeks ahead for guaranteed space. The hut closes for a few weeks in November for maintenance. Confirm opening dates before planning shoulder-season visits. Expect tight bunking on busy nights, especially for Friday and Saturday arrivals.
