Reach it in 2 hours 15 minutes from the Großraming village car park (950m) via a steady forest track that opens onto alpine meadow in the final approach. Most hikers use it as a base for ridge walks into the Nationalpark Kalkalpen or as a stop on longer traverses between the Enns Valley and Höllengebirge.
The hut sleeps 40 across shared dormitories and a handful of double rooms. The OeAV-run operation serves half-board meals—substantial dinners and breakfasts—with packed lunches available. Showers and toilets are basic but functional. There is no WiFi; this is a proper mountain refuge. The kitchen will accommodate vegetarians with advance notice. Open mid-May to late September, the hut operates year-round for self-catering outside these months with locked facilities available.
