Stuhlalm
4.1About
The Stuhlalm is a rustic, family-run alm at 1,467 m on the western side of the Gosaukamm, the jagged limestone ridge of the Dachstein group, above Annaberg-Lungötz in Salzburg's Lammertal. Set on open pasture beneath the Gosaukamm's spires, it is a popular walking destination and mountain inn rather than an alpine-club refuge, run by hosts Tina and Stephan, who serve regional food on a panoramic sun terrace. Overnight stays are possible, and the alm is open through the summer season — in July it is staffed Friday to Monday and in August Thursday to Monday, with overnight guests welcome seven days a week during those months. The most popular approach is a fairly gentle 1 to 1.5-hour walk (about 450 m of ascent) from the Pommer car park in Annaberg's Astauwinkel, through forest and then across alpine meadows. Alternatives include the Austriaweg from the Donnerkogelbahn (around 1.5 hours) and a longer, more scenic crossing of about 2.5–3 hours from the Gosausee via the Gablonzer Hütte. The gentle valley-side approaches make the Stuhlalm well suited to families and casual hikers, while it also serves as a stop on multi-day Gosaukamm and SalzAlpenTour circuits.
