Trattnerhütte - Tenneralm

Trattnerhütte sits at 1270m on the Tenneralm plateau, roughly 40 minutes' walk from the village of Tenneck in the Pinzgau region south of Salzburg. The approach is straightforward: park in Tenneck and follow the marked trail uphill through forest onto open alpine meadow. The hut works as a base for day walks across the Tenneralm, or as a stop on longer routes through the Kitzbühel Alps. Summer hiking dominates here—routes radiate to nearby summits and across to the Schwarzleo Lakes.
Trattnerhütte operates as a working mountain dairy farm, which shapes its character. The hut sleeps around 25 guests in simple dormitory rooms and a handful of double beds. Meals focus on hearty Alpine fare, often featuring dairy products from the farm itself. The kitchen can provide packed lunches for day walks. The hut has running water and basic washrooms; expect straightforward mountain conditions rather than hotel comforts. It opens from May through October, weather dependent. Winter access is rare.
Book direct by phone or email well ahead for weekends and July–August, when the meadow fills with families and weekenders from Salzburg. Midweek slots open up more readily. The hut is managed independently rather than by OeAV or DAV, so confirm opening dates before planning a trip, especially in shoulder months.
