Trautenstattalm
4.1About
The hut is family-run and holds around 50 beds across simple rooms. The kitchen serves traditional Austrian fare—hot meals at lunch and dinner, with packed lunches available. Water comes directly from the mountain spring. Facilities include basic washrooms and a wood-fired stove in the common room. The hut operates year-round, though staffing can be limited in shoulder seasons—contact ahead if visiting outside summer. This is a working alpine pasture with cattle grazing in summer, so expect noise and the genuine rhythms of a mountain farm rather than a polished refuge experience.
Book directly by phone or email at least 4 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Friday and Saturday nights fill quickly in summer. Winter bookings are more flexible. The hut is run by the Golling community and welcomes walkers, families, and groups. Bring cash—card payments are not reliably available.
