About
The hut is a small working mountain shelter run by OeAV (Austrian Alpine Club). It has 30 beds in simple shared rooms. Meals are hearty Austrian fare; the kitchen serves dinner, breakfast, and packed lunches if you order ahead. Water comes from mountain springs. There's no electricity, so the hut relies on gas and wood heating—it gets cold once the sun drops. Toilets are basic. The hut works as a waypoint on longer ridge traverses toward Mosermandl and Weißsee rather than as a destination in itself.
Book directly by email or phone as soon as your dates are set. July and August fill 6–8 weeks ahead. June and September are quieter but still require booking 3–4 weeks prior. The hut answers calls irregularly, so email is more reliable. Confirm whether packed lunches are available for your onward hike. Bring a sleeping bag liner—the bedding is minimal.
