Reach it from Abtenau in 2.5 hours via the Kammeralm route, or from Annaberg in 3 hours. The trail climbs steadily through beech forest before opening onto alpine pasture. In winter, access from Annaberg is more reliable. The hut serves as a base for ridge walks along the Tennengebirge and approaches to Raucheck (1,980m) and the Hochkönig massif to the south.
