Bildstock

Bildstock stands at 2,035m on the eastern flank of the Seckauer Tauern, in the Sölk Valley system of Styria. Reach it from Sölk-Bad via the Sölktal road to Sölk-Alm, then hike 2.5 hours on marked trail past alpine meadows and scattered larch. The hut also connects to the Riesachfall trail from the west, making it a natural waypoint for multi-day ridge traverses in the northern Seckauer Tauern. Most parties approach from the valley rather than arriving from higher peaks, as the hut sits below the main summits.
The OeAV-managed hut has 40 beds in small dormitories and a handful of double rooms. Meals are substantial and focus on local ingredients; book dinner by 3pm. The kitchen supplies packed lunches for mountaineers. Water comes from a reliable spring. The hut operates year-round but has limited staff mid-week in shoulder seasons (April, October, November), so confirm availability before visiting. Winter access depends on snow conditions and your winter skills.
Book 4-6 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Contact the hut directly by phone or email—online booking is limited. The hut fills quickly with groups doing the Seckauer Tauern High Route. Arrive by 5pm to secure your bed and eat dinner with other guests. Mobile signal is weak but present.
