About
The hut is a modest mountain shelter with 18 beds in simple dormitory rooms. The OeAV operates it as a basic mountain hut: expect a small self-service kitchen, outdoor toilet facilities, and limited amenities. Meals are not provided on-site, so bring your own food or resupply in Sölk-Bad before heading up. Water comes from the spring. The hut serves walkers doing day hikes in the Niedere Tauern and as an overnight stop for longer ridge traverses.
Contact the OeAV directly to confirm opening dates and current conditions. Book accommodation several weeks ahead for July and August. Outside peak summer, you can often find space with 1-2 weeks' notice. The hut is run by volunteers, so expect seasonal closures. Bring a torch, cooking fuel, and supplies: you're far from shops here.
