Augsburger Hut

Augsburger Hütte sits at 2,289m in the Zillertal Alps, between the Zemmgrund and Stillupgrund valleys. Most hikers reach it from Mayrhofen in the Zillertal. The standard approach takes 3.5 hours from Schönau in the Zemmgrund, climbing steadily through forest and alpine pasture. Alternative routes come from the Stillup valley to the south. The hut is accessible year-round in good conditions, though winter access requires mountain sense.
The DAV Sektion Augsburg runs this 80-bed hut as a working base for Zillertal exploration and ski touring. It serves meals for residents and day visitors, with a self-catering kitchen available. Half-board is standard but you can book bed-only. Showers are available. The hut closes only briefly in November for maintenance. From here you can climb to Hochfeiler (3,510m) to the west, traverse to Furtschagler Haus, or ski tour in the Zillertal's backcountry.
Book directly with the hut via email or phone. July and August fill weeks in advance. Easter week and ski-touring season (March to April) are busy. Weekdays offer better availability. The hut prefers booking at least 4–6 weeks out for peak season, less critical for shoulder months. Mountain bikers also use this hut as a staging point, adding demand in summer.
