About
The Memminger Hütte stands at 2,242 m below the Seekogel in the Lechtal Alps of Tyrol, in the upper Madautal above the village of Bach in the Lech valley. Built in 1886, it is a shelter of the Memmingen section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) and today sits at a key junction of famous long-distance routes, including the E5 (Oberstdorf–Meran), the Adlerweg and the Lechtaler Höhenweg. Small alpine lakes below the hut and the surrounding rocky peaks make it a striking, high-mountain setting. The hut offers roughly 131 sleeping places, with around 21 beds in rooms and about 110 mattress-dormitory places. The catered season runs from early/mid-June to late September (into October in good years). The main ascent is a demanding 5–6 hour climb from Bach through the Madautal, and in summer a paid taxi runs from Holzgau to the Memminger Hütte car park, from where a material cable car can carry rucksacks up to the hut. Because of its position on the E5, it is busy in high season and advance booking is essential.

The hut is catered from roughly early to mid-June until the end of September, occasionally into mid-October depending on weather and snow.
The standard approach is from Bach through the Madautal, a demanding climb of about 5–6 hours. A paid summer taxi from Holzgau to the Memminger Hütte car park shortens the walk, and a material cable car can carry your pack.
The long, steep ascent is best described as demanding rather than beginner-friendly, though fit walkers with mountain experience manage it. It is a regular stage on the E5 and Lechtaler Höhenweg.
It is a fully catered Alpine Club hut serving hot meals and drinks, with beds in rooms and mattress dormitories, plus a rucksack-transport cable car from the valley car park.
