The standard approach takes 3–4 hours from Mayrhofen. From Mayrhofen town, take the Stillup-Straße into the valley, park at the Stillup Stausee car park, and head southeast on marked paths. The hut is also accessible from the Pfitschtal to the east or as part of longer ridge traverses. Winter access is limited and avalanche conditions control feasibility.
The hut accommodates around 60 people in simple dormitory rooms. The kitchen serves dinner and breakfast daily during the season. Expect simple refuge fare: hearty soups, stews, and bread. No hot showers. Toilets are basic. Water comes from the mountains. The hut operates June through October, closing outside summer season.
