Dürrenbergalm
3.2About
Dürrenbergalm is a working dairy farm that also operates as a simple mountain hut, offering around 20 beds in basic dorm rooms. The kitchen serves Kaiserschmarrn, Schweinshaxe, and other Bavarian mountain food. Water comes from the farm's own spring. There are no hot showers—expect a washroom with cold water only. The hut remains open year-round but operates most reliably May through October; call ahead if visiting in winter. The atmosphere is genuinely local: farmers' families run it, cows graze nearby, and you'll eat what the kitchen prepared that morning.
Book directly by phone or in person. The hut fills quickly during school holidays (Easter, summer, autumn breaks) and weekends from June through September. Aim to call 3 to 4 weeks ahead for weekend stays during peak season. Off-season visits (November to April) rarely require advance notice. Payment is cash only.
