Enzianhütte

Enzianhütte sits at 1,313m in the Zillertal valley, an excellent base for day walks across the lower Zillertal ridges and forest trails. Reach it from Mayrhofen in about 90 minutes on foot via marked paths, or from the Zillertal road villages of Schwendau or Fügen. The hut is accessible year-round for hikers seeking gentler terrain than the high Alpine routes. Summer walkers use it as a staging point for circuits around the Ziller valley, while winter snow usually stays light enough for snowshoe access.
The hut has capacity for around 50 guests in mixed and private rooms. Meals focus on Austrian home cooking—expect schnitzel, speck, and strudel. Fresh water comes from the spring. Mobile phone reception works reliably. There is no WiFi, so leave the scrolling behind. The hut runs year-round, though staff recommends checking conditions in early winter and late autumn. Bedding is provided. Showers are available.
