Höllentaleingangshütte

Höllentaleingangshütte sits at 1045m in the Ötztal, serving as the entry point to Ötztal's most popular hiking corridor. The hut lies 8km south of Ötz village, accessible by car to the nearby parking area followed by a 20-minute walk. Most hikers reach it as part of longer valley traverses or when starting routes into the Ötztal's higher peaks and glaciers.
The DAV Sektion Garmisch-Partenkirchen operates this modest hut with 30 beds across simple dorm and double rooms. The kitchen serves hearty Austrian fare and packed lunches for onward routes. Water comes directly from the valley stream. The hut operates year-round, though staffing and meal service vary between seasons—contact ahead for winter visits. Showers and basic facilities are available.
Book directly with the hut by phone for July and August, when weekend slots fill 4-6 weeks ahead. Shoulder seasons (May, June, September) offer more flexibility. The hut takes reservations but also accommodates walk-ins outside peak periods. Expect a €10–15 surcharge if you arrive without booking during busy weekends.
