Kloaschaualm

Kloaschaualm sits at 887m in the Benediktenwand range, south of Bad Tölz. Reach it from the village of Benediktbeuren in 1.5 hours on foot via a steady forest trail. The hut makes sense as a base for day hikes in the Voralpen or as an overnight stop on longer traverses through this quieter corner of the northern limestone Alps.

The hut has 30 beds split between small dorm rooms. Meals are available most weekends and daily during summer. The kitchen serves straightforward alpine fare—substantial soups, simple mains, local cheese. Facilities include a tap water supply and an outside toilet; there are no showers. The hut operates year-round as a simple self-catering refuge, though staffed service is irregular. Check directly about opening hours outside summer weekends.

Book through DAV Sektion München und Oberland. The hut rarely fills on weekdays. Summer Saturdays and Sundays are busier but not overwhelmingly so—this is not a major hut traffic hub. Book a week ahead for weekends in July and August. Outside these months, turning up in the afternoon usually works. The hut accepts cash payment and DAV member cards; contact the managing section for key access and current staffing details before your visit.
