Neue Alplhütte

The Neue Alplhütte sits at 1,540m in the Zillertal valley. The standard approach is from Mayrhofen: walk 2 hours up the Zillertal trail to reach the hut. Alternatively, take the road to Schwendau and hike in from there—allow 1.5 hours. The hut works as a base for day walks across the surrounding meadows and into the Ziller peaks, or as a staging point on longer valley treks.

The hut offers 40 beds in mixed and private rooms. Half-board (bed, breakfast, dinner) is standard; lunch packs are available. The kitchen serves straightforward Tirolean food. Facilities include a small bar, drying room, and toilet facilities. Water comes from a spring on the property. The hut operates year-round but is quietest November to April, when reduced staff means hot meals are only available by advance arrangement. Summer (June to September) is the busy season on the Zillertal hiking network.

Book by phone as far ahead as possible—July and August often fill weeks in advance. The hut accepts same-week bookings in shoulder seasons (May, early June, September, October). Email or phone directly with your preferred dates, group size, and any dietary needs. Payment is cash preferred; card payment is not always available, so confirm before arrival.
