Trögelhütte

Trögelhütte sits at 1,429m in the Ötztal, about 8km south of Öetz in Tyrol. Approach from the village of Öetz via a well-marked hiking trail that takes 2.5 to 3 hours. The route follows the Ötztal upwards through forest and alpine meadow. Winter access is possible but depends on snow conditions—contact the hut before attempting a winter approach. Most hikers use Trögelhütte as a base for day trips into the surrounding Ötztal peaks and for longer mountaineering traverses.
Trögelhütte is managed by DAV Sektion München und Oberland and offers 50 beds across several dormitory rooms. The kitchen serves evening meals and a full breakfast. A self-catering option is available if you prefer to cook your own food. The hut has running water, toilets, and heating. It operates year-round, though availability and services vary outside summer season—confirm opening dates before planning a winter or spring visit.
Book directly with the hut in summer July and August at least 4 weeks ahead. Shoulder season (June and September) typically needs 2 weeks' notice. Email or phone the hut manager to check current availability and any access restrictions due to weather or maintenance. Payment is cash or bank transfer; confirm methods when booking.
