Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte

Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte sits at 1,388m in the Kaisergebirge, above the village of Kufstein in the Tyrol. The hut lies on the main hiking route through the Kaiser massif, making it a natural base for multi-day traverses. Reach it from Kufstein town in 2.5 to 3 hours on foot via Ebbs and the Kaiserbrunner Alm. The approach is steady but relentless—gain 800m through forest and alpine meadow. A mountain bike shortcut exists but adds little time. The location works equally well as a midway rest point or an overnight stop for climbers tackling the Kaiser's steep rock faces to the north and east.
The hut manages around 60 beds across dormitory and small private rooms. Meals are hearty and filling: expect Kaiserschmarrn, schnitzel, and simple vegetable dishes. Self-catering is not an option. The hut operates year-round but sees heaviest use May through October. Winter access demands avalanche awareness and mountain experience. Water comes from the spring on-site; the hut staff manage it carefully during dry periods. Showers and toilet facilities are basic but functional.

The hut sits on OeAV territory and welcomes members and non-members equally. Arrive by late afternoon to secure a warm meal—the kitchen closes at 7pm sharp.
