Götzner Naturfreunde Haus

The Götzner Naturfreunde Haus sits at 1,450m in the Götzis valley north of Dornbirn in Vorarlberg. Reach it from Götzis village by walking 1.5 hours up the steady forest path—no scrambling involved. The trail is well-marked and runnable in sections. Mountain biking access is also possible via the same route. You can park at Götzis and start directly from there.
The hut has 25 beds spread across dorm and double rooms. The Naturfreunde organization runs it as a simple, no-frills operation. Evening meals and packed lunches are available if you book ahead. Basic self-catering is possible in the kitchen. Water comes from the spring. The hut stays open year-round, though it's quietest November to March. Winter access depends on snow conditions—check before you go in the colder months.
Book directly by calling or emailing well ahead for summer weekends and Austrian public holidays, especially July and August. The hut fills quickly then because it's accessible from Dornbirn and popular with locals. Weekday visits rarely need advance booking. Group bookings should be arranged at least a month ahead. Half-board rates are reasonable; full self-catering is cheaper. Naturfreunde members get modest discounts on accommodation.
